How do I create a packing checklist for my trip?

Creating your packing checklist is simple with Pack Checklist:

  1. Create a trip: Add your trip dates and destination.
  2. Select items: App pre-fill items that most travelers need. You can customize your list by selecting all items or just the ones you want.
  3. Pack Items page: This is your main checklist:
    • Each item has a suggested quantity based on trip length. You can adjust them anytime and add notes per item(s).
    • Check items as you pack – checked items turn green to focus on what’s left.
    • Fully packed categories move to your “Packed Categories” section automatically.
    • Item counters help you track your progress easily (Packed/LeftToPack).

Is PackChecklist really free?

¡Yes! Pack Checklist is completely free cool. You can use all core features without paying. In the future, we may offer optional premium add-ons for extra convenience, but the free version will always allow you to plan and pack efficiently. Start Packing Now!

Do I need to create an account to use PackChecklist?

Yes, creating a free account allows you to save your trips, packing lists, and notes securely. Your information stays private, and you can access your checklists anytime from any device.

Can I customize my checklist?

Absolutely. Every checklist is fully customizable:

  • Add or remove items based on your preferences.
  • Adjust quantities for longer or shorter trips.
  • Organize items into categories for easier packing.

This flexibility ensures you pack only what you need.

How does PackChecklist calculate item quantities?

The app uses your trip duration to suggest quantities for daily essentials:

  • Shirts, underwear, and other common items are pre-calculated.
  • For pants, the app splits long and short pants evenly across your trip.
  • You can manually adjust quantities if you have personal preferences.

This saves time and prevents overpacking.

Why enter destination?

Soon we’ll use it to suggest/remind weather-specific items – e.g. rain jacket, warm coat. Plus, it saves trip history just for you.

  3. Track Packing – Mark “precheck” and “packed” to stay organized – no paper needed.

Why does PackChecklist ask for trip start and end dates?

We use your trip length to automatically suggest quantities for common daily items (like shirts, socks, or underwear). For example, if your trip is 7 days, we’ll pre-fill 7 shirts. Pants are split between long and short by default. You can always adjust quantities to match your personal needs.

Is my trip information private?

Yes. Your trips and packing data are tied only to your account. They are not public, and only you can see them.

Do I need to install anything?

Nope. Just open your browser – on desktop or mobile.

Can I share my checklist with others?

Sharing features are coming soon. You’ll be able to send a read-only version of your checklist to friends or family, so they can follow along or pack with you.

How do I use it with family?

Each person can create their own trip under one account – perfect for kids or partner trips.

Will there be paid features?

Possibly – advanced tools may be added, but core features stay free
